NROTC interview

Somewhat of a funny story, I had a candidate show up for an interview in a nice looking suit. The tie looked so perfect that I joked "you decided to wear a clip on tie, eh?" His face turned beet red and he looked down at his feet. It doesn't really matter for interview purposes, but I did recommend he learn how to tie one before he got to the unit. He did get the scholarship (I'm not that big of a jerk :) )

suit is fine, but make sure he can be comfortable in it. Have him wear it to dinner or something. It will make a much better impression if he wears it well and I'm sure it will make for a better interview if he isn't feeling awkward.

DS is wearing a suit today for his MOC interviews. I had to tie his tie for him when he tried everything on yesterday. I told him that we have reached the time in his life where he needs to learn this skill. Living in South Texas hasn't led to wearing many ties before 17yo (DH never even wears a tie here even to formal business meetings). But, man, this mom thinks her son looks pretty darn good in a suit! Tie class with dad will commence today.

I felt kinda bad for a guy that showed up to his NROTC-MO interview in his AFJROTC uniform... after we were specifically told not to wear JROTC uniforms. He may have had limiting circumstances, but I died inside a little seeing that 😅

The "double-windsor" is the top tier knot for young men. Then he can elevate his game and tie a bow tie. 😀
