Good Morning, does anyone know how each tier is weighted when it comes to commissioning score? I asked my company officer and he wasn’t much help. For example, would tier 1 get a multiplier, tier 2 stay the same, and tier 3 have a decreasing effect? If so, what are the specific weights on each tier? Thanks.

Don't quote me on this, but I thought I remembered reading something about 4 points for Tier 1, 3 points for Tier 2, and 2 points for Tier 3.

So a Tier 1 with a 2.5 GPA gets 10 points total, while a Tier 3 with a 4.0 GPA would be at 8 points.

There is some info and discussion on that topic in this thread here......

The formulaic computation for tiers and GPA gets finessed every year, and is part of the initial scoring that goes into an application. It is fairly closely guarded, but there are always hints and rumors. What I can say is we are watching very closely for people who game the system and claim to want a Tier 1 and then ask to shift lower. Those aren't quite automatic as they used to be. I'll just leave it at that for now.

Major in what you think you can do best in. Once on scholarship, your GPA drives service selection more than any other factor. A "C" average in Chemistry will not outscore straight "A"s in Poli-Sci or History.

So there is not a multiplier for GPA based on tier major towards the midshipman's service selection??
