NROTC Marine Corps boards meet this week

I called the Marine office in Quantico and asked about the online status. They confirmed that all decisions were in but that they were up for signature. Told me to keep checking the website. I reported the strange "math eval" message. About 30 minutes later, I logged in and the message was corrected and it is back to saying that all items have been processed.

My son's posting said that yesterday as well, and last night he got the call that he'd been awarded the scholarship. Today it says: Your application is at the Marine Corps District for final processing and selection determination. Items waiting to be processed: All required items have been processed.

Best of luck to those still waiting!

Yesterday we had the weird "math evaluation missing" notice. Today we have "Congratulations, 4-year NROTC-Marine Option NC State University." Son now has to decide between that and NAPS! What a great situation to be in.

Good luck to all those waiting!

Status just changed again

Status now shows confirmation of the Marine ROTC award. I guess the math teacher must have gotten back to them quickly

Does anyone have any idea if they will update the online status to inform you if you did NOT receive a scholarship? Has anyone who received a "math eval needed" message had any confirmation whether they received a scholarship or not?

There is still no change of status for my son's application on the website and it seems that others are hearing positive news.

Now says "Congratulations! You have received a NROTC Marine Option scholarship......." WOW!! Pretty exciting!

Good luck to everyone

I just check my sons page and it now it says :

"Your application is at the Marine Corps District for final processing and selection determination.
Items waiting to be processed: All required items have been processed."

From this last night:

"Your electronic application has not been completed."

Yet the Captain called my son yesterday with his confirmation news and now my son informs me, he also has Embry Riddle as a 4th choice school.

My son called me today to tell me the Marine Recruiter Captain, sent a Staff Sergeant to my sons school today to announce his scholarship. They ambushed him outside of his math classroom.

My son got the scholarship (internet), but no contact from the Corps- at least not yet. Same thing happened with the Army. The Captain was on leave when the scholarships were announced.

Has your son decided on Army or Marines? What school?

He took an appointment to the USMA Prep.

Just found out that my son was on the non-select list for the NROTC Marine Option scholarship in First Marine Corps District. The number of applications this year were significantly higher for the same number of spots and though he had great extracurriculars and PFT score, his grades and SATs were just under the average of those seeking a scholarship. Interestingly, they do not weight the competitiveness of his school (which is highly competitive and of which he is still in the top 20%). Well, he really wants Marines....he's been accepted to a military college and he can try for a 3-year scholarship and re-apply to USNA! We will encourage him to get around those roadblocks that life seem to has thrown his way!

Yeah...

Their website is messed up from time to time.

Mine was changed just today to show my selection status as accepted.

Now struggling to get an eye waiver...gah...

My sons site finally changed last night also.
It also says he was "assigned to Embry Riddle" although this is at the bottom of the page of instructions:

"Your Scholarship Application reflects the following College Choices:
1st College Choice: THE CITADEL
2nd College Choice: EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY
3rd College Choice: VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
4th College Choice: UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA
5th College Choice: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA
Note: College Choices may also include affiliated crosstowns. College choices are used for placement at a particular NROTC unit only. Placement at a unit does not guarantee you admission to that college. We strongly suggest that you apply to all of your listed choices.

NOTE: Any change to school assignment must be approved by NSTC (Naval Service Training Command). Your request must be in writing and provide justification for the change. Send to:
NSTC OD2
250 Dallas Street Suite A
Pensacola, FL 32508-5268
or FAX (850)452-2486
or EMAIL PNSC_NROTC.scholarship@navy.mil

NSTC will consider each request for change on its own merit, and will base its decision on the needs of the Naval Service, programmatic factors such as Unit size, cost and curricular programs offered and your justification. Requests for change should be submitted at the earliest opportunity.

Your NROTC Scholarship can only be used at a pre-approved NROTC Unit/College.

If you do not know if you should accept or decline a scholarship: you are not obligated in any way if you should accept; it is in your best interest to accept. "

Bummer. which military college?

Man...I got my first choice...University of South Carolina...but my second choice was Citadel...I was considering changing it because the Citadel is more my style. Hmm...

Go Cocks!!

Both great schools, with very differing programs. My Navy ROTC commission and Geology major at THE USC served me well for a twenty-year Active-duty career.

Good luck, no bad choices here.

Thanks. Just have to get passed the waiver review board. I have -6.75 and -6.5 eyesight. Kept me out of the USNA Foundation Program. How's this...I sign the paperwork for the Naval Academy Foundation, then two weeks later hear that I won't get an eye waiver...

DevilDogg....my son is going to attend Norwich University. Did you hear yet from NROTC?
