Do you have to be accepted into a University’s School of Nursing before you can apply for the NROTC Nurse Option Scholarship? I was told that but I can’t find that anywhere.

No. To apply, you do not need to be accepted yet. You do have to be accepted in it if you get the NROTC Nursing scholarship and want to go to that school, but you don’t have to be in yet to be considered for the scholarship. For example, my daughter found out about being accepted to her number one choice of nursing schools AFTER her NROTC scholarship came in.

If you are not aware, there are only certain schools you can go to for NROTC nurse option. They are all direct admit schools.

Being admitted is not required to be awarded, but it is required to get the scholarship activated. You might be able to get the scholarship transferred if admitted to another NROTC unit with Nurse Option, but there are not alot of NROTC Nurse Options schools, so they likely fill up fast.

Thanks for all the info. My DD wants to go to Texas but it is difficult to get into their nursing program. She is a junior this year so we are trying to get as much info as possible before deadlines & boards start meeting.
