Nrotc Scholarship Denied

What is truly inspiring on this thread are all the posts about individuals who didn't receive a national ROTC scholarship - but did not give up on their goal. Persistance and preserverence are characteristics of true leadership. I hope others take heart in these stories and seek a path to achieve their goal of serving as an officer. I don't know, but I highly suspect that those who are not chosen for a scholarship on the first try - but continue to pursue one in college by continuing to do well academically and in training - will be very competitive for a scholarship upon reapplication. And if your credentials were competitive for an ROTC scholarship, you are likely to be competitive for academic merit as well as financial need scholarships at most schools.

Still waiting but that’s the goal if it’s a “no”.... his future Battalion said they will help him apply again & were quite confident in their success rate 😉.....

That is extremely surprising that you didn't get picked, solely off of your extensive and impressive extra-curriculars. You should call them and find out if a mistake was made, and if so, see what they can do about it. You seem to be leader material, so don't give up on being an officer, good luck!
My son was top 5% in his class, similar extra-curriculars and was denied as well

The 4-year ROTC scholarships are a national competition, with thousands of stellar applicants with glowing packages, with many also applying to the Service Academies. That national competition is a tough one, with a limited number of 4-years to hand out.

If a commission through AFROTC is the goal, your son can join a unit, deliver top-notch performance, and apply for scholarships awarded to college students.
And from what I hear, it's truly more of a competition than the SA applications because it is national...not district.
