NROTC Scholarship Notification??

I'm looking on the bright side of this. she doesn't have to spend a month in Chicago this summer. and she can re-apply this fall once she is established in the NROTC program.
💯! I posted this on another thread 😉.... the only thing different is he experiences summer in No. IL - since he lives here 😉🔥 ☀️ 🔥.... his college NSO training in August will be warm!

I’m sorry to hear the news ... I’m afraid that is coming for our DS too (but he works until 5pm today so won’t know until after then) but I’m so glad your DD is ready to go as a Programmer! Our DS is on the same boat - ready to kick things off as a Programmer & likes the battalion/Mids a lot for the college he selected. There were stats posted on another thread on success rates for 2 & 3 yr NROTC scholarships - I like their chances! The %s were really high. And, I think it will drive them even more next year - they’ll be laser focused to show them!! Good luck 🍀 to your DD!

Sorry to hear this, but keep trying! All 5 people in my unit who came in as programmers and stayed during the first full year pickedup scholarship!

Update! DS's NROTC status portal just changed, reflecting the scholarship offer! Yay! Now to see if he can get into that #1 school that the scholarship is assigned to -- while checking with the unit at his Plan B school to confirm they can accept him!
Congratulations!! My daughter received a 4-year yesterday also, and we are BEYOND ecstatic. We are actually in disbelief, but so grateful.

Thank you for the words of encouragement! The Unit has mentioned this to him several times - that they will help him & have a good track record 😊. DS is so lucky as he will be able to use the ISTW (tuition waiver for IL residents) - he won’t have all of the benefits of the scholarship but to have his tuition waived is such a blessing. It will work out - just have to stay focused. He may change to a different engineering discipline from what he originally thought (Tier 2 now vs Tier 1) so it may actually work in his favor, as he finalizes his major .... I’d much rather have him be happy w/ what he’s studying ... he’s taking AP Envi Sci right now - has him thinking about going the Civil Eng route....

Does anyone have the NROTC results portal website. For some reason we can't get in.

Can the detachment sway the admissions office? Worth a shot for a reconsideration!
my dd and I were told by an AFROTC rep at a university that the admissions team likes scholarship recipients because they actually get more money! I am sure that helps sway decisions.

Congratulations!! My husband and I were in disbelief as well and DS was moving forward with plans to use his Type 7 AFROTC scholarship at a fantastic in-state school. With the help of the NROTC unit at his #1 school, we are moving forward today with an appeal to admissions to see if the scholarship has any sway. Fingers crossed!! Even if they don't change their mind, DS is so very blessed!!
