If you applied for the NROTC scholarship, will you be notified if you are not awarded it? Will your portal be updated by end of April? Or do you just assume you were not awarded if do not hear anything? Are there still two board dates in April? Lots of questions. Son is starting to get antsy, has a Plan B, just really wants to know which way he's going. TIA

Yes - You will receive a final notification of selection status.

I was wondering the same thing. In my son's account, it used to have all his information and said Processing. Tonight we went in and that had all disappeared and there was only a new application to fill out. What's that about? Surely they will actually write something to you?

I saw that there was a board from April 5-8. How does it work? If they don't get through a pile of applications during other boards, do they just move them to the next board meetings? Haven't others already received scholarships?

You mean like a separate email?
No. Your portal will update, usually by the end of April. I see you have posted a question about the application being blank when you log in. Check on the initial login screen to make sure you are logging in for 2020-2021 and not the new application cycle. Lastly, if an application is board ready, it will be reviewed on the 1st Board that you qualify for. Those that are not selected are sent to the next Board. This cycle continues until the last Board when the process ends for this cycle and all final decisions are sent out. You will get a final answer.

Thank you. So for clarification...if he didn't make the cut during the last February Board meeting, his application moves on to the next Board meeting in March and so on, until the very last Board meeting? I think there are only a couple of Board meetings left, so this might not look so good.

Correct - Don't be discouraged - the application is still in play. There are MANY scholarships that are awarded on the final boards. Best of luck to your son!

The final boards generally award more scholarships per board that the earlier ones, as they are filling out the selections. The early boards tend to be highly selective consisting of the definite "Yes" applicants; others are pushed over to the next board as "Maybe's". By this time some of those applications have become "No's. Those candidates receive updates to their portal saying they were not selected for a scholarship. With each board more and more applications become Yes or No. At this point no additional applications are coming in, so the board knows what the final applicant pool looks like. You are still in it until you receive the notice you were or were not selected. As @EEBTTF said, be sure you are logging into the correct application year. The new application for next year opened today, so that is probably the reason you are seeing a blank application.

The Netfocus application/status page for 2021 has disappeared and it now takes you through the 2022 application prompts without the ability to revert to 2021. But you can log into https://netfocus.netc.navy.mil/nrotc/candidate_app/status_scholarship.aspx to check the 2021 status.

Does anyone know anything about the Minority Serving Institution Boards or when the make decisions? My son is anxiously awaiting both National and MSI. He’s been accepted to his number one school but waiting to hear about scholarships.
