NROTC sideload? Maybe?

It has been a while since I have posted. DS did not receive a nomination for the Naval Academy last year but had completed his DoDMERB. We knew there would be a request for AMI because of a previous injury, but it was not pursued for obvious reasons. He is now participating in NROTC at his current school.

Today, he received notification from DoDMERB that before a waiver process can be initiated, an administrative AMI (updating medical information since his last exam) is needed with agency listed as US Navy CSB. He has not had any correspondence with anyone from his school. He did tell me his Navy advisor had been reassigned to somewhere else.

Could this mean that he earned a 3 yr sideload? Am I reading too much into this? He is currently out running around with his brother, and he just sent me a screenshot and says, "wonder what this means" Oh the anticipation is killing me! LOL, I'm sure more so for my DS.

His unit will know for sure. If his LT has been reassigned, perhaps he can reach out to his HR civilian who keeps the medical records for the unit.

Each PNS is different. I do call each sideload selectee to congratulate them, but some will wait for the academic year to kick off and make an announcement in front of the battalion.

One other thing he might try is accessing his DoDMETS account. It may show who requested the waiver review.

Thank you for your reply. The HR civilian replied to him requesting submission of the administrative AMI. He responded that he sent it yesterday. He was then given information about the waiver process today.

DoDMETS has the Agency listed as US Navy CSB. From the acronyms I found on this site, that means College Scholarship Board :)

He arrives at school on Saturday and has his first NROTC meeting next Tuesday.

Sounds positive. Good luck to your DS!

I am sure he will get final word upon his arrival, but the DoDMETS process requesting the AMI and beginning the waiver review is typically triggered by the NSTC scholarship team notifying the CSB of a scholarship offer.
