DS submitted his application for a 4-year NROTC scholarship. For probably the past 4 weeks or so the status of the application shows:
"Application has been submitted online Your electronic application has been received and processed ...
Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, you new status will be reflected."

The concern is that this status has not changed in quite some time. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

He could be in that status until the end of April as indicated, when, presumably, the last of the scholarship decisions are made. His alternate plans for college should be ready to go, including the college programmer route, if he is not given a 4-year scholarship and NROTC is still his desired path. I assume he has done the research on that and understands the potential for campus-based scholarships once he does well at a unit.

From a parent in a similar situation, I can’t stress tending to “Plans B - ZZZ” enough. Even when you think you’ve exhausted all avenues, there may be more. DS started researching NUPOC & CEC.... He’s very interested in those now. Then he found out last week that he was accepted @ a Big 10 school (w/ a Top 10 Engineering Program) that provides “tuition waivers” for in-state students who join the NROTC & are not on Scholarship (not guaranteed but a strong option). It honestly sounds too good to be true but it’s legit. So here we are with an additional option, with about 60 days left until decision time. It seems like time stands still right now but I’m ok w/ that because I honestly can’t deal with acknowledging that he’s leaving soon 😥..... Good luck 🍀 to your DS! Hopefully more and more NROTC scholarships are announced soon!

Once DS' package has met the board, the status will change to "No decision has been made on your application."

As I understand it, all applications get rolled into the next board if not selected at the first or subsequent boards.

If/when DS is selected for a scholarship, NROTC will generate a DODMERB medical review request.

If DS has not previously completed a DODMERB contracted medical exam, DODMERB will email DS with instructions on how to get his exam scheduled. This is great news.

If DS has an existing DODMERB "Qualified" status from a Service Academy (SA) application, DODMERB will return that status to NROTC and, when they do, DS will receive an email from DODMERB and NROTC will change the "no decision" status to reflect the scholarship and school to which awarded. Netfocus will then read like this:

Selection Status
Congratulations!
You have been selected for a National NROTC Scholarship Navy Option scholarship.
Your scholarship has been placed at [XXX] UNIVERSITY.
Your host unit will be [XXX] UNIVERSITY.

This was the timeline for my DS:

-package met late Jan board, passed over
-nothing from early Feb board
-after late Feb board, NROTC requested DDMERB Tuesday, 23 Feb 2021
-DDMERB replied the next day, Wednesday, 24 Feb 2021, with "Qualified" from his prior SA medical screening; DS received an email that there was an update to his DODMERB status (he had not received an email when NROTC requested medical review)
-Thursday, 25 Feb 2021, Netfocus updated in the morning to reflect the award, above, and an email followed 5 hours later (the email did not indicate to which school the scholarship had been awarded...my DS got his #1 ranked school)
-Friday, 26 Feb 2021, DS emailed his C/O at the NROTC unit he was admitted to (and who conducted his interview for the application), who replied he had not yet seen the communication from Pensacola but expected he would receive it later that day; and that he would contact admissions to let them know of the award, as DS has not yet been admitted to the school...it is very competitive and he missed the early decision deadline.

So we are waiting and hoping he gets admitted to school #1, which we'll know by 1 April, but prepared to change the award to school #2 or 3.

@Percy description sounds consistent with DS' experience 4 years ago. Your DS' status is not showing any missing items, so it may not have been completely processed and ready for review on the last board. Hopefully it will update soon.

@Go Dores! (a former NROTC PNS) posted this email address in another thread recently and said they can confirm whether the package has arrived and is complete: pnsc_nrotc_applications@navy.mil. It might be a good idea for your DS to contact them to confirm his status.
