NROTC summer commitments?

My DS is still stuck in the black hole known as “No decision has been made” with his NROTC application 😀 He is currently looking for opportunities to work at a Boy Scout camp this summer, but I’m wondering if there are NROTC commitments he may need to consider. If he does end up getting a scholarship, will he be required to do any training before school begins in the Fall?

Yes - If he is awarded a 4 Yr National Scholarship, he will attend NSI this summer.

Yes - NSI is for 4-Year National Scholarship winners. If he is not awarded a scholarship, he will not attend NSI. Best of luck.
 
Sitting in the same black hole, wondering if he has time to get a summer job. Also moving from our house (when/if it sells) to my parents’ in another part of the state, sometime after HS graduation, but prior to moving overseas… which happens after he’s settled on campus but after hubby has to report to another continent so I’ll have to do that alone. We also have to pack up his entire room and everything he may need access to in the next few years and figure out where to stash it, just in case. No clue when any of these things will happen because I’m at the mercy of the Navy for all of it…. DS and DH. So I send my sympathies if nothing else 😜
 
NSI is for CP too. If you have a 4 yr scholarship it won’t be activated until you go to NSI. CPs can’t get a 3 year until after freshman year. My son is still no decision so is prob an alternate but already completed all pw for the CP program at his college. Received an email that he is scheduled for NSI 3rd cycle Now need to do another physical because it’s a different form

My DS said the exact same thing when I saw him last weekend. He’s scheduled to be the XO for his school’s NSO but plans keep changing since it looks like they want the 4/C CPs to go to NSI.
