NROTC SWO ship selection Spring 2024 1pm

2 sessions down. Congrats all that got their preferred ship.
This year has had the most confusion regarding the SWON availability that I can recall. It seems for NROTC version, they could just line them up for Options, EDOs, Nukes each, then the traditional, since there is no overlap this time. At least then it would be easier to confirm slots.

Attached is the actual list they use to make the selections. They base it off the Order of Merit(or Order of Merit List..I forget which it is called). They changed it up this year to give the traditional SWO's a chance to get those high demand Rota and Japan slots also. Requiring EDO's and Nukes certain billets opens up the opportunities for the traditional SWO's. The SWO community wants to support the SWO's that will stay traditional SWO's.

Understood. Last year when there were Nuke Available et al, it made sense to have all of them in OOM regardless of type. For NROTC, it seems it would have been just as easy to have one session be the 30 or so Nukes, another the EDOs, etc and have them pick from their exclusive listing. Still be in the same OOM relative to their peers, just not against the other types.

I also noticed one of the problems from last session. The file from 2 weeks ago had a ship listed with a Nuke slot. It was missing at time MIDN tried to take it. I was wondering how he could have picked one that wasnt eligible at all. The other one who had the single Nuke slot taken by the MIDN before her made sense.

The applause for Norfolk was as enthusiastic as the applause for San Diego.

And what about Ryleigh Jenkins? Throw her a life ring. The LT did by finally giving her the remaining ships available.

I'm stuck at work this afternoon and enjoyed watching the entire 2 hours 25 minutes and 30 seconds.

That happened after my comment regarding SWO(N) confusion. I know this year, like for USNA, the Nukes had much more restrictive listing, so the ESP/JPN slots were very rare, which backed into SD. But, I do think the selection process would be more efficient by EDO and Nukes using a separate listing (like the Options do) instead of just comments on the larger traditional listing.
