Link has just been put up on the FB page of NROTC. The ceremony will be streamed live on that link. Since we are not permitted to post links here, I am only informing other parents; the link is easy to find if you search for the NROTC FB page.

GB the USA.

Good morning,

After reading the NSI Instructions again, now that NSI is a mere 3 days away, it says with regards to departure after graduation:
  • Expect Midshipmen Candidates to be ready for pick-up beginning at 1100 (11 AM).
Does anyone know if we'll be allowed to spend the day with them prior to their return flight? After searching the threads and looking over the paperwork, my impression is we can pick her up at O'Hara after she's dropped off and then we merely need to have her back in time for her flight.

not if the flight was booked by the Navy. if they are flying home by the military , you can say a quick good bye at the graduation site and then they get on a bus and are sent to ORD airport. you might be able to hang out with her at the airport though, but i wouldnt take her offsite

It is possible I suppose, but you will not know when the bus will get to the airport. Just because MIDNs can be picked up beginning at 11am at Great Lakes, it doesn't mean they will be at the airport before Noon. I think the guidlines say not to have flights before 2pm for this reason.

So you can probably pick her up, but you might not have as much time as you think to run about Chicago.

Your DS/DD can ride home with you. You do not have to send them to the airport or put them on the aircraft after graduation. Let the unit know if this is your plan and advise your kid to tell his NSI chain of command if this is the plan. Have your base-access documents submitted per the NSI info paper your kid got. You will probably get no reimbursement for mileage and only per diem for a half day. If this is gonna be your plan, make sure DS/DD understands it because you will be incommunicado until graduation. And you have to commit to it because they ain't gonna re-buy a plane ticket for you after they cancel it.
