Depends what you mean by ——find out. Based on the several recruiting visits I have sat thru the coach is prepared to answer any question the recruit or parent has.

They will explain the application process and how to go thru the nomination process. It’s often after this visit the application process will just begin.

The one question they will be prepared to answer——can I be admitted? And they will then give assurances about being directly admitted and the prep school. By this time they know enough about the prospect to know that assuming no problems on the physical that can’t be waved they can at least get this kid into Prep.

The admissions people make the actual offer and they know who the Blue Chip recruits are.

What do you mean by find out? Find out what?

the coach may give you intelligent assurances based on grades , test scores quality of play ,etc pending a back ground check and physical that you should be fine... Assuming you are one of the Blue Chip recruits. This the coach can tell you.

But the coach does not hand out appointments. The admissions people do that. And that will be done months from the official visit. The best the coach can do is give their assurances that assuming nothing unexpected happens that a direct admit or prep school should be in the young persons future. They will have enough experience to give an honest answer as to what should happen,
 
Now if your question is——will I know if we are a blue chip?

If you are brought in on an official visit and the coach is talking about the benefits of a USNA education and hope for the coming seasons then you are almost on their blue chip list. They do not make house calls to recruits or bring them in for official visits if they are not really serious about them,

If in doubt just ask. In my experience if the player has other visits to other schools scheduled the coaches will say take those visits. And we can talk after. Or they may come right out and say——I want you I hope you want to come here.

Either way there should be no doubt where you stand at the end of the visit.

A couple more questions 😊

What is appropriate dress for an official visit? She’ll be attending class and going to a football game. Daughter has only taken visits to SEC schools which were more casual. USNA doesn’t seem to be the place to wear the cowgirl boots and lulu shorts. 😂

Is it still appropriate to bring hosts homemade cookies? Older brother went on a cvw back in 2017 and brought homemade cookies to his hosts. I received a really cute group thank you video from the cadets he stayed with.

Honestly if it’s an official visit, don’t worry about treats. I am sure they would be appreciated, but NCAA rules are squirrelly. Jeans or khakis with a nice shirt. Bring a jacket. Comfortable shoes. Bring some athletic clothes for appropriate weather for practice time observation. They can’t practice but can observe. If attending the football game… jeans, comfortable top, jacket for projected weather and comfortable shoes. Money for mid store.
