I am new to the forum and I just had a quick question. Did the applicants who recieved appointments with Congressional Nominations have LOAs?

Nope they actually took care of the process completely separately. I think that my Senator actually notified the academy before me when I got the nomination because before I got the actual letter telling me I got the nom, it had already shown on the candidate portal page I had received the nom. Go figure haha!

BFE arrived! LOA 9/28, Nomination 11/22, Appointment notice from MOC 12/7, offer of appointment letter dated 12/13

Best Christmas present in DS's life. Can't believe my DS who used to play with GI Joe figures is going to attend USNA. Ten years ago, his best Christmas present was Ultimate Soldier's Navy SEAL special night op doll.

I would like to thank you posters for giving us great advice. Without this forum, DS could not have finished his application early.

I actually called the admissions office to see if there was anything else I had to do (subtle way of informing them), but they said that I was good to go and would be receiving more info later on. Shortly afterward, I got the official letter in the mail!
 
Our Son

I have been eying this page for a while. Interested in who has found out and wondering if my son would get a chance to know your sons/daughters.

Well, tonight when my husband and I got home from a swim meet, our son met us at the door. Said he got a phone call a few minutes earlier from Congressman Jordan. He wanted to call to wish our son a Merry Christmas and to let him know that he had heard from the Naval Academy, in that he has been accepted. He asked to speak to us to wish us a Merry Christmas also, but we weren't home yet. Congressman Jordan said to expect the letter within the week.

Totally shocked to hear this soon. I am very proud of everything our son has done to get to this point.

Got a call from my BGO. He congratulated me on my appointment to the Naval Academy! I had an LOA and received a nomination from Senator John McCain.

billy, you should read Faith of my Fathers written by your nominator.

What I took away from it was this: the same qualities that helped Senator McCain to survive the USNA, graduating "Fifth from the Bottom" (an actual chapter title), also helped him survive his years in an NVA prison camp.

Congratulations and good luck. Go easy on my USNA 2017 hopeful if he earns an appointment.
