One-sided story or was it true? Fixed?

Discuss.......but don't also believe everything you read, see or hear.
No. Let's not.

Hmm, but just because he didn't, does this give us cause to disbelieve and discredit him? What does he stand to gain? Where shall his standing in the world improve? Perhaps he exaggerated to a certain extent, but certainly there is some truth to this letter. Yes, it does make me rethink my desire to attend. Why? For this reason: West Point has always held a high standard in this nation for its ethics, academics, and sports; yet, a man rights a letter with apparently nothing to gain, detailing violations of our beliefs in West Point, then we must ask ourselves, do we want ourselves, our friends, and our children to attend a college which lies?
Perhaps there is no truth to the letter. In the depths of my heart, I hope so. But if there is then I am deeply sorrowful.
I will probably still apply, but it does make me consider how the West Point I envision in my head differs from that which actually exists.

Consider your state college and a ROTC scholarship. Same result, and you won't have to worry. Pretty simple.

I have served in our Army for 29 years. I have never witnessed what you describe above. It is simply not true in my experience. WP Cadets lead and compete for advancement just like everyone else. Many of them are exceptional...some are not.

I am a product of ROTC.

Don't believe everything you hear..
When what I "hear" is coming from current ROTC grads part of Special Forces, newly commissioned ROTC LTs, other men/women in highly authoritative positions within the military itself, and a myriad of NCOs at JBLM in WA it is hard to not believe it. And this is not to discredit the many good cadets out there. But thank you for answering my question, which was if anyone else has heard the claims about WP Cadet arrogance, and you said no.

Per everyone else, this one letter from this one LTC also does not make me rethink the entirety of the academy because at the end of the day it is better than normative colleges. And things do indeed go wrong everywhere. No person and no institution is free from flaws. The very fact that Westpoint can point to its graduates and their successes is something to be very proud of, for there are many.

Furthermore, as I'm typing, I'm seeing more messages come up that I feel inclined to respond to. The military and politics do not mix. Yes, we support our civilian leadership in defending the constitution but political debate has no place in the military and neither here in the forums. I advise against "conspiracies" and taking things at face value, especially in relation to political and civilian policy discussion.

The article honestly makes me rethink my decision to apply to WP. Incredibly depressing; I grew up believing that the Academy was "the best of the best" and was where magnanimous leaders were formed and learned. Now, I don't know what to think. Do I want to attend a college that lies to the nation about its standards?
Sorry you feel that way. I posted the link to hear the "fixes", not to discourage prospects. I am sure there are 10x of counter arguments out there believing in WP tradition and value. In the end it is still one of best institute to produce great leaders and warriors. There are cheaters and liers anywhere you go, you just need to keep your faith to your heart, hold you head high, and give your best to your team. Influence, change, and lead is what you should think to do at WP, do not quit without even try.

Three officers walk into a bar, a West Point grad, ROTC grad, and OCS grad...

If you are considering service in our great military it’s a guarantee that you will get perspective from a broad range of people. This is what makes our country great. Opinions are shared freely! Anyone that has served can give examples of good and not-so-good Officers. Put all of the good examples in your kit bag and remember the bad for use as teaching points.

Ultimately every good Officer plays a part in molding others. Take some of what this thread offers and strive to not be that guy/girl. The best way to make change in a bad culture is to do it from within.

This article is from 2017, from what I can gather the Supe at the time was rather friendly with the cadets. In a military environment that could cause many of the issues called out in this letter. The current Supe is more focused on football than most other things and has not been seen much this year during covid, however the BTO and the Comm that are currently being replaced have addressed many of the complaints in this letter. I believe from my DD's experiences that the privileges of civilian dress are no longer an issue. That the plebes are always in uniform when on post or if they happen to get to go off post or anywhere accept in the barracks. They walk the walls with hands cupped and are not recognized until the end of their plebe year. Now the cheating scandal and how that has been handled is cause for concern. It is causing unease amongst the cadets who adhere to the cadet code. It also gives pause as to why and how the athletes were treated vs the non athletes. And why the boards were deferred for the athletes and how they really got very little punishment and not separated. Does make you stop to pause a bit.

The guy who was peddling a book on a podcast?

Like literally every other thing, he should have worked his concerns through the chain of command.

Bad things happen when you make a decision to get outside of that chain...

BTW - wish I could find time to write a book and do podcasts while in command of America's sons and daughters.
@Soldiergriz ,

I can't get enough.
