Overnight visit - what does the parent do?

Yeah.. Dong Fongs... awful.
You can take 218 (if it's open), over to Cornwall. Some nice places to eat there. Prima Pizza, The Rock Wall Pub. I don't mountain bike, but I do hike. Look at All Trails. Many nice trails. If you do The Tourne loop there is a memorial to the fallen at the top.

I'm just happy that I have been able to introduce Dong Fong to the SAF. It really has been a source of great comedy to our family since R-day in 2006. Sometimes there wasn't much else to laugh about.

This place will be my destination if it's not frigidly cold or raining.
Back in the day, I would mountain bike if it was 14 degrees or warmer. I feel like I've added 2 degrees per year over the past 10 years, so now it has to be in the 30s!

The Harriman Park area is to the West and has many wonderful trails and areas of interest. Old Mines, Indian Rock shelters, the refuge/hideout of a notorious Revolutionary War bandit and even prehistoric rock paintings done by cavemen*

* Bonus Points to anyone who knows the real story here! :)

Go and take a tour of Fort Montgomery which is just a short distance out from post and a little before the Bear Mountain Bridge. A good friend was part of the archaeological dig team that first excavated it a couple of decades ago as it had been basically lost to history. Over time, the real importance was better understood and I was lucky to be part of the dedication ceremony which included reps from the US and British government as well as military historians.
Sounds like it's a seasonal spot, not open during the dead of winter: "Museum open April 18 - October 28, Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays)"

We ALWAYS eat at the Hacienda Mexican Restaurant - it's actually not too bad considering the location.

From an Aggie, "not too bad" is high praise for a non-Texas Mexican place. DS and I may check it out next week before his visit. Thanks for the tip!

... for out of towner's (stater's)... there is a HUGE Outlet Mall called Woodbury Common Premium Outlets just 20 minutes southwest of USMA.

We bought NEW clothes for our kid there rather than luggaging old (or new) clothes from home.

The place is huge and brand new looking. :biglaugh:

Pretty long 20 minutes!

We live about an hour away but go there once or twice per year. Lots of premium outlets too as in watches for $5K that retail for $10K, designer level stuff, etc. For your cadets, there are Nike, Adidas and UnderArmor stores where you can get good workout/under wear, etc.
A lot of foreign visitors/shoppers, especially from Asia come in on buses from NYC

This is very intriguing given the TX source. Wondering if I should do that with DS on Tuesday night or on my own on Weds night. I'm thinking the latter!
