My DS is visiting the USMA later this month and received an LOE. I understand the value of this visit from the standpoint of being on the campus and understanding what the daily life will be like while he is there to help him out with his decision, but I am wondering how much of this visit is also to benefit the academy to understand if he is a fit or not. In other words, should he treat this as another interview and will the SA admissions receive feedback from individual he interacts with while on site?

Generally not an interview although he could meet with his RC and make a favorable impression. And, if he were to do something that raises a red flag, someone will say something and it could be disqualifying. But it’d have to be pretty bad for a Cadet to reach out. He will be staying with Plebes and they are not spies for admissions.

Any visit for a competitive candidate invited for an overnight at this point should be looked at as another opportunity to shine. I'm recommending to my DS to treat like an interview and be at his best at all times.

That was sort of my thought as well. Thanks!

MD and Cobber - thanks for your input. My DS will be at an overnight later this month and this is good information.
