I'm certain it has been said before; however, just some thought as you all go into this journey. On day 1 when we dropped off our DS all the candidates were taken away to begin their midshipman journey. Once out of the room the skipper addressed the parents. He said "you all just watched 42 kids walk out of this room. In 4 years there will only be 12 to 14 kids left who will commission." At the time there are now 14 kids in my sons class. My son said the kids that remain work hard and he doesn't see anymore dropping....they all just need to maintain their grades and not get in trouble. All the very best to the new selected candidates. Work hard and maintain your "bearings".

My DS class had 50% attrition rate - started with 32, ended with 16. They were dropping up to the very last semester. The good news is that 6 went to Charleston together for submarines (5 from his graduating class, 1 was a year older - got his Masters's) and all did great at Nuclear Power School. There were five pilots and 2 nurses in the graduating class too. I think there was one surface nuke with the remainder SWO. I think they all got what they had requested.

5 cadets from my DS' MSI class started together none of them had national scholarships...4 were awarded campus based scholarships and commissioned.
