Dad2020, my parents were in the same boat. I have younger siblings and my parents bought a property with a few houses on it when I left for USNA. Even if there was one close, my parents wouldn't have joined. Here is the thing, SAs have existed a long time. Plenty of us went through without social media, parent's groups, FaceTime, cell phones and we all survived just fine. My 1/C year I discovered one of our new Plebes was from my neighboring town. I always checked in on him and provided his parent's phone number to my mom and she called to check in and see if the had questions. That mom then knew of another young man who went to USAFA who graduated with her son. They met about once a month for coffee just to say hi and see if she had any questions about this all. Even though they were USNA, it provided USAFA mom someone who understood and could ask questions. The closest parent's group will keep a roster and should be able to provide some names for those closest to you. You can sort of create your own sub-group.
