Parents' Weekend

Parents' Weekend is from Thurs 9/1 to Mon 9/4, as shown on the appointee handbook. Will activities take place throughout all 4 days? Would my parents need to come to all 4 days of this event?

It's recommended to arrive Thursday evening, as events are all day Friday. Doolies must be returned to cadet area by 7pm Monday night. We have an afternoon flight so will drop our DS off earlier in the day Monday.

In addition to the above, Saturday is the football game. Cadets are required to attend the tailgate and the game. Parents usually get tickets and attend as well-- After the game, cadets are free to be with their parents until Monday evening. It’s really the last time parents get a chance to spend time with their cadet until Christmas— so most take full advantage— for the Doolie, it’s an overnight vacation—

I’m not sure- Parent’s weekend was canceled my son’s Doolie year- hopefully someone else here knows

Cadets can stay with you Friday after their LMD. You just have to have them at the tailgate in the morning which may be way earlier than you’d like to be there yourself. If they are a Doolie they will have to be the first ones there. Really depends if it’s an early game or late afternoon.

Do we not get leave time for Thanksgiving? Or is that more of an on-base break.

Thanksgiving is lmd Tuesday afternoon/evening and must return by 7pm Sunday. I assumed most cadets went home, but from the comments maybe many don't? I had planned to fly DS home Wednesday morning and back Sunday morning, but will wait until we get more info before purchasing airfare.

Cadets do typically get Wednesday thru Friday off for Thanksgiving- not everyone elects to travel for this, but many do— we had several extra cadets at our house over Thanksgiving— I’m a sponsor

If you are a fall IC (other than fb) check with your coaches to see if there are any special competitions/events/parents meetings over parents weekend too.

My wife thought that was hilarious, but she has been around me and my idiot squadron mates for years. I'm not sure all of the moms were as appreciative of the dark humor that is pervasive in the AF.
