Hello. For obvious reasons, I am posting this from a new account that will not be used outside of this thread.
I have seen other threads on this forum regarding the chances of receiving a waiver(if that is even necessary) for a little bit of marijuana use as a minor reported on DODMERB in the process of applying to a service academy. It seems the chances are fairly high.
I have used marijuana a few(3) times, but I have also used LSD(twice) and ecstacy(AKA MDMA)(once). All of these were more than a year ago, and as a minor to boot. I intend to be fully honest with the good people at DODMERB, no matter the consequences, and am posting to ask two questions.
1. Does this require a waiver request be submitted at some point? In other words, is this an automatic medical disqualification that I need to try to appeal? I have heard that drug use as a minor is not even a disqualifying factor when applying for medical clearance, provided I can pass a physical and a drug test(which I can).
2. If there is a waiver required for this(or if I need to go through some other sort of process) will this history of drug use be automatically disqualifying? Do I have any shot at getting through DODMERB and eventually being accepted to a service academy?
