The pending government shut down from a lack of a budget agreement may have an impact on Admissions and academy visits. Before making a trip, you may wish to call ahead to make sure the event or activity is still on. From a local news paper: "At the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, 618 federal employees teach 1,000 cadets, manage the campus buildings and handle administrative duties. Classes and exams would continue through May 4, shutdown or not, though the professors would not get paid until the government opened again. But some workers would be furloughed, said Kimberly Smith, an academy spokeswoman."
