Retrieving the mail has become my daily dose of epinephrine. The enclosure is often stocked with white letters. I have the same gut wrenching feeling every time I look. Water bills, bank statements, and coupons for a local Mexican restaurant all taunt my hopes at the academy. I pray regularly to receive a BFE, but the other day I accidentally said TWE during my prayer! I'm doomed I tell you. DOOMED!!!

No but on a serious note, everyone waiting stay strong! Make your back up plans and hope for the best. If you've gotten to this point in the application I'm sure you are a smart and capable young individual. A decision by USMA not to appoint you won't ruin your future. Life is about getting knocked down and the response is what separates the men from the boys. For some, a rejection might even do them some good ;D. Keep pushing brothers and sisters!

Sign up for free USPS Informed Delivery. First thing in the morning, you get an email of what is coming in the day's mail---they scan the items as they are putting on the truck. I have no idea why this is free, but it is: https://reg.usps.com/entreg/RegistrationPortalAction_input DS did the daily walk to the mailbox last year, but the news actually came from the MOC's office--they apparently are notified before portal flips or anything else.
I learned about USPS Informed Delivery from other Plebe parents as we were waiting for letters from Plebe Summer. I'm pretty sure all three SA's are the same--no cell phone until Plebe summer/Beast, etc. are over. Your parents LIVE for those first letters...hoping for "I'm OK", etc., yet knowing that some parents will get gut wrenching letters that will keep them awake at night.
 
If your portal says you are offered admission, then it's just a matter of time. Check your portal once a day and you will know the outcome. DD portal updated couple of weeks back, so we knew BFE will come on it's own time. It just showed up on our door today.

A number of people on this forum myself included have said the BFE showed up one day and never showed up in the Informed Delivery.
 
Last year, my DD didn't show up in informed delivery either! Please keep in mind that informed delivery can also be a blessing and a curse. My DD received several TWE commmunications that were not denials, just informational, and nearly gave us a heart attack everytime waiting for the mail to be delivered.
 
This kind of reads like the movie, "Rudy," where he keeps checking the mailbox for a letter from Notre Dame. And I don't know how you all do it- the hoping and waiting. Our son is a sophomore in high school, eager to serve as an officer, and checking every preparation box.. I've discussed with him the "needs of the service" at that moment in time will determine how things shake out so it's logical to cultivate alternatives. He's looking at M.I.T., Penn State, and Texas A&M- lol, yes they're all great universities but no, I didn't ask him how he came up with the list. I think one thing that keeps the over-thinking about it out of his mind are the brochures coming in the mail from smaller colleges that don't even have ROTC programs. He smiles and sets them aside. My BFE never showed up in informed delivery. Neither did the fingerprint packet oddly enough too!
 
USMA has a ten percent acceptance rate. Chances are the majority of people on this thread will not be accepted. Do not be giving false hope. I’ve been working my whole life with the goal of going to USMA and I don’t have to worry about it. Take agency in your life, don’t bother with the good luck charms and superstitions.
