PFE at AIM question

I saw a few pictures of a purple block being placed on the ground in the push-up test. Is the PFE push-ups really tested with a block on the ground? While we are here, what do you guys think is the minimum score to qualify for the academy?

For reference, the average score for last years initial swab summer PFE was 220 for both men and women. A swab with a score less than 150 may be recommended for disenrollment. For commissioning standard, minimum is 200.

While there’s not necessarily a min for applicants, IMO, you certainly would want to be above 200, and ideally at or above average. Of course, the higher the better!

The block is there because they are supposed to get there chest down to touch the block, but not rest on it. The cadre are supposed to be watching as they take the PFE to make sure they aren't resting on the block and that they are going far enough down in the push-ups.

As stated above, there is no minimum score. Average AIM scores are definitely lower than the Swab summer scores (as would be expected). An AIMster who then applies to CGA can use their AIM PFE score on their application if they choose to. However, for many, it is simply used to see where they need to improve most. If an AIMster can submit a much-improved PFE on their application, that will show that they have been working hard to improve their score.
