The plane ticket I received that is going to be paid for by the Air force to Colorado Springs has me departing on 6/22, however, I was wondering if it is possible to leave earlier to allow for time to acclimate to the altitude while still having the Air force pay for the ticket. Is this possible?

You can email them but honestly it takes a couple weeks to fully acclimate to the altitude. You aren’t going to accomplish this with an extra day or two. The academy understands this and the BCT schedule accommodations are done as such everyone will be acclimated before the really rigorous stuff begins.

Did you request for a plane ticket or was that done automatically?

What time of day does the gov reserved flight get to colorado springs? Are all of those flights scheduled to arrive on 6/22? If I want to arrive a day earlier should I just pay for a ticket myself and then get reimbursed?

I arrive at 1:30-2:00 Colorado time on 6/22. Somewhere in there. I think most people do. Its going to be slightly different for everyone because that's the way the world works, but I imagine they have scheduled most people to get into Colorado Springs sometime during noon. If you want to arrive earlier that's completely up to you, just have to report at your scheduled time.

If you do decide to arrive early and requested the gov. airline ticket ...

*** make sure you turn in the ticket they gave you or go through the proper steps so you don't end up paying for two tickets! That wouldn't be fun... ***

For the parents out there, your cadet will be reimbursed for the ticket YOU buy for them. If your cadet is like my cadet, you'll need to "ask for your change back":)

Already took care of that and made my DS arrange his own airfare (gave him my itinerary and said get on the same flight) and purchase his own ticket. I told him he would get his money back in 3-4 months...😂

Will the academy only reimburse me if I purchase through the airline (AA.com) or can I book through Expedia also?

Just have a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement. It should be in appointee's name and only include the one way ticket for appointee (no family members on same receipt). We purchased tickets separately for this reason.
