Navyhoops has given some great perspective of PS and onward. I receommend reading her posts.
Bootcamp is different in that they are preparing to be enlisted and be lead rather than leaders.
At BC they sure as heck don't "get" to sail or obstacle courses, etc. But they also don't have to keep a white uniform clean!
BC has barracks that are one big room to simulate a "ship." with 80 beds = 40 bunks. Recruit officers are assigned: Recruit Commanding officer, Yeoman, Quarter master, Starboard and Port watch. The physical fitness stands (to me) don't seem as hard. Lots of safety classes, gas chamber, fire, etc. Weapons training.
The one thing any BC training and PS (other SA's) is they are taking the "individual" to sailor, solider, plebe, airman, marine, etc. I was a completely different person coming out of BC.
