Possible DQ For Eyesight?

Quickly additionally if not already stated - there are min. standards for pilots in each branch for uncorrected vision. Google "eyesight requirements for military pilots uncorrected" if you are interested how those vary by branch'/ what they are... You should also consider a consult to confirm if Lasik surgery would address your vision to be within standards without corrective lenses or aid, and all needed measurements. Hope that helps.

Go Cubbies if you fail the vivid red/green test can you still get a waiver?? Son is beginning ArmyRotc at VT in two weeks. 4 year scholarship
Nope.

I think that’s where the line is drawn.

If DS fails the PIP and vivid red/vivid green, then Cadet Command may ask for repeat testing to make sure of the results since that’s a hard stop for accessing into AROTC.

Now if he were the #1 triple-option QB recruit in the entire country, West Point may be willing to do anything to Beat Navy!

Went to our optomitrist yesterday - who is ex army - and while it wasn't the actual red green vivid test, he was able to distinguish red and green on a screen in front of him Doc seems to think his 20/30 correction in left eye, 20/20 overall will pass and he thinks he'll be fine on the red green. Fingers crossed!! Thanks GoCubbies! You've been a huge help. But you're a Chicago guy so that makes sense!! Go bears!!!

I’m assuming distant vision again. If your future Hokie is correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other, then that meets the standards for the Army.

What is his refraction though? In other words, that is the corrective lenses prescription that is needed to get get to 20/20 and 20/30? The refraction is another standard. If you tell me that, then I can tell you if he meets it.

Did the optometrist say why he isn’t correctable to 20/20?

I think he’s fine on the color vision based on what you’ve said. He passes that piece.

Go Cubs! Go Bears. I can’t wait for the season to start.

Here's his file.....

Your DS meets the refraction standards. 👍🏼

He should be going to VMI though.
so he'd done that already. we just were being proactive should we need to get more evals. and honestly for our piece of mind. He wants this so bad I'd hate to have him denied because of this!!! Thank you
