Admitting I have no knowledge on how this would work, based on other service military experience, cadet command, which has invested in commissioning you and commissioned you as an AD officer and given you
orders to your career path, is likely the deciding command because you haven’t reported yet to your first Army AD duty station. Decisions like this are made with an eye to current Army policy, past precedent, needs of the Army (if they are short in your branch in your year group, good luck), merits of the case, the individual’s record to date, and the desires of the individual. Presumably you are detached from your AROTC unit, so that PMS is in your past.
Much may depend if you took scholarship money when you traded your oath and signature to serve X years ADSO.
Now, I know out of Army ROTC new officers can go AD, NG, USAR, unlike Navy, where everyone goes to AD.
I do think your starting point is your old chain of command to explore what is possible. Talking with a NG officer recruiter is also important; they may know how this is done.
These were just general thoughts from someone who has experience with special requests.
