visit... how did it differ from Scholars Day (other than staying in the barracks)? Did the meeting for parents/students differ from the meetings on Scholars Day, for example?

Did your Pre-Knob visit make you more (or less) likely to attend the Citadel?

What was the most interesting part of the visit for you? What was the most boring or disappointing part of the visit?

Thanks.

Didn't attend Scholar's Day, however spent the 19TH at Citadel for PreKnob visit. Slept on the floor in the room with 2 Knobs. Everyone was ok, ate in mess hall with cadets. Up early to watch Knobs clean and sweep floors
Finished early, just after 1300. Met with ROTC dept.'s heard a rumor while I was there about all Citadel Scholars Scholarships being cancelled due to budget cuts.
Everyone was in a hurry to leave for Spring break.

Holy Smoke! Who said that about the Citadel Scholars?

A cadet? Professor? Financial Aid? A parent?

Citadel - are you lurking here? Can you confirm that all Citadel Scholars scholarships are cancelled due to budget cuts?

Pre-knob visits aren't that different from the Scholar's day visits. The only difference is that the scholars visit has the interview, and maybe a meeting or two more. Otherwise, I think that they are pretty much the same. I recall some of the cadets even asking why we were all dressed up (for the interviews). I guess even they didn't know that it was a Scholar's visit.

I haven't heard anything about them cutting Citadel Scholars Scholarships. I think the funds for scholarships are separate from those that are for running the school. The Citadel is enacting a 2 day furlough for their staff this semester, and their budget will be reduced the following year again as well. But I don't know any specifics.

mwbluebeard: Don't worry. They already have given out some scholarships for this year, and they can't retract those offers. I also doubt that they will offer less scholarships this year, because the scholarship funds are probably endowed and set aside specifically for that purpose. I would be surprised if they offered less, and can say with certainty that they aren't canceling all of them.

Suggest you call Col. Hank Fuller Citadel
and ask directly what Citadel Scholarships are being cut.
Best intel says the State (SC) mandated the Scholarship cuts
and LtGen Rosa agreed instead of raising tuition.
If true? cost me $3700

Good luck to all

Oh, dear.

I wonder if Palmetto Fellows will also be cut? Maybe not -- I think that is lottery funded.
