If you receive a sponsored prep school position, I understand you're given a choice of 2 schools (NMMI and MMI). What does that year look like--do you pay to attend? do you apply for scholarships? do you receive a stipend to cover uniform costs? What else do I need to know to make an educated decision? We're still waiting for the packet to arrive in the mail. Thanks!

Sponsored means you do not have to pay. You still need to submit an application, but as a sponsored prep, you are guaranteed a spot. You will get details in your packet which should arrive soon. Most KP sponsored preps go to NMMI.

NMMI is really relaxed you can get away with a lot. I know next school year they are changing the entire Cadet Core due to low attendance and to gain more people. If you do go the NMMI STAY AWAY FROM DR. TEKUT he will screw you over in chem. You will haft to pay to attend but USMMA does give you a scholorship that pays for the majority or the tuition. New stuff they implemented this semester and staying for next year is: Permits every weekday from your last class to SRC (last class to 1840). meaning you can sign out of post in Class C and basically just go out and eat as there is nothing to do in Roswell. Mini furloughs every weekend unless parade or something else comes up so you can go to a hotel and do whatever you want. Next school year cadets will be allowed to have a fridge. But I already have one because again they are very relaxed after first semister and basicly don't check anyones rooms. You can have a desktop computer and a gaming console if you want(before you come download a VPN like Express VPN to bypass the 1840 website blockers and in general bypass the entire website whitelist) . Prep PT is changing because the Coach is leaving, but it's generally 330 to 5 M-W-F. Every Tuesday morning we have commandants time which is really boring and a waste of time. We also have it in the afternoon on Wednesday.

Also on a side note, you will probably be taking those permits majority of the week. Food at bates is terrible and they are constantly out of certain drinks. In addition they don't allow food deliveries but College cadets will be based in the slab meaning you can always get away with getting food delivered to the gate on Honor drive without getting caught or someone telling on you. but things are changing so just get a feel of what you can't and can do/get away with.

If you want more info or advise just reply back

My son graduated KP and attended NMMI as a sponsored PREP. Excellent opportunity.
