Hey real quick how do you know if you are eligible for a presidential nom? I just was just scrolling through threads and saw two different things. Thx

if your parent meets the criteria, as long as you submit the proper paperwork, the nom is automatic. My DD’s showed up in her portal within weeks of mailing the documentation required.

Many, many threads on this topic. If you search "presidential" you should find the information including criteria. You can also read the "nominations" forum.

If you haven’t read every page, drop down and link on your sa.edu of interest, that is your primary source. Most answers are there. The criteria are the same for all the SAs which use this nom, but the website language might read a bit differently across the SAs. If you meet the criteria and submit the documentation, you are eligible for the nom. There is a cap as to how many appointments can be charged to that nom authority per class.

Thank you all for your feedback! Sorry, am new and learning how this works

There is no need to apologize, at all. You will become an ace at managing this, but it can be painful at first.

No worries. Everyone is new at one time. Lots of information here, one way or another, you'll eventually work your way through most of it. 👍

I actually thought this was a little confusing too. A lot of people are active duty for longer than 8 consecutive years but do not go to retirement. My understanding is to be eligible for the Presidential the parent has to be current active duty for 8 consecutive years OR officially retired (with pay).

This forum has been so helpful! Great info while we all waitttttttttt. 😃

must have 2800 points... my DH is retired but unable to collect retired pay yet but DD was still eligible

Is there any specific timeframe when the SA's (USNA in my case) notify those offered a presidential appointment? Or is it like the rest of the appointments where one could be notified any time before April 15th?

With so many terms used in the SA application process, it’s easy to start running them into each other.

An offer of appointment is an offer of appointment, which an applicant might see roughly between September and the end of May or a bit beyond, depending on what an individual SA has indicated for that cycle.

The term “Presidential,” similar to “Congressional,” or other modifiers, applies to the nomination to indicate source, and is not usually used to modify appointment.

An applicant who got everything complete and submitted well before the winter holiday, along with the documentation for a Presidential nom, could still be waiting to hear in April.

Hang in there.
