Hello all,

Haven't posted in this thread but I am also applying for an appointment at USMA (not to USNA because as my username states, I am tall, and I wouldn't fit well on a small boat) and I was wondering if anybody knows what to send for a service-connected nomination? West Point says "Applicants must furnish a statement of service, retirement orders, or casualty report to verify eligibility." I have my dad's DD214 (service record) but when I did this for Air Force they had me send something else along with it. If you know anything, I would greatly appreciate it.

Review a(1), tells you how many Cadets are allowed to be at WP at one time, and the requirements. Basically if you are applying for a "Service Connected" Nomination, I am assuming it is a parent, and you need their 100% Permanent and Total Ratings Letter to submit to WP Admissions (through your RC). There is a difference in a Presidential Nom and a Service Connected Nom. Presidential Noms are covered under 10 USC 7442 b, and list the numbers and requirements for each. Again, the paperwork needs to be submitted thru your RC.

Have you ever been on a Navy ship? It might not be easy for a 7 footer but I've seen many Navy people well over 6' tall do well aboard ship.

I have toured Navy ships and I felt really cramped below deck.

Thanks for the clarification, WP's website just listed Presidential as children of "career personnel" under service connected but mentioned section 12733, Title 10.

I should be done according to my orthopedist. I HOPE I'm done.
If you have aspirations for AF pilot, looks like your height is not a barrier now. Of course, this is not an official source. Good luck on your applications.
