Presumably no prepatory school?

Just received my rejection from the USMA this morning. I contacted my Regional Commander about the possibility of the Prep School as I had a low ACT score for math. Besides my ACT scores(composite 27), I did well on my CFA, had a nomination, high GPA(3.94), and captain of two HS varsity sports teams. Unfortunately, my RC said that the Prep School space was very limited and that there was not much I could do.
If it's really your dream, do a year of self-prep at Marion Military Institute.
It took DS 3 years applying to SAs. Once he attended MMI, he received appointments to all three SAs that he applied to.
It's not a guaranteed path, but if you really work incredibly hard, you'll have huge advantages with MMI. My son is in Plebe year at USMA and is glad he didn't get appointment until he had the year to get ready at MMI.

So he did 2 years of college and a year of MMI? Wow that’s dedication! He’s going places ✅

To be clear, actually two years INCLUDING MMI. (MMI is a college).
Three years applying. He applied in HS. Then went to Northwestern Prep and second semester local college. Then MMI. He wouldn't "settle" for ROTC at Reg University.
To his "advantage", he graduated HS young, age 17. So he's gonna be finishing Plebe year as a 20yr old.
Point is, I would highly encourage anyone to reapply and reapply, if it's your dream. The Academies LOVE DETERMINATION. Reapplicants have much better results.
I worry some kids might be in too much of a hurry to keep up with their peers, etc...It was hard for my son to watch his HS friends go off to college and make real progress, but in the end, his path is gonna pay off. Also, the Service Academies keep statistics that show prep kids have far better outcomes once they get their appointments. Do not give up!

I applied for West Points class of 2028 and didn’t hear back until Wednesday. (I applied as soon as the application opened last summer) I received a TWE and non appointment letter in my portal. I was fully qualified 3Qd with nomination. Very strong in leadership (maxed it out). Passed CFA. Nominated. Low SAT. I spoke with my regional commander and FFR about the possibility of USMAPS and the Civil Prep Program back in February to tell them of my interest. Since then I have not spoke with my regional commander about this. In February my FFR told admissions and my regional commander I would do this program if offered it and I gave my FFR my word I would do it if offered. I have been in close contact with my Field Force Rep after getting a non appointment last Wednesday updating him and he informed me that he will check on my chances and if I can be offered the Civilian Prep Program still . He said it’s still a possibility Does anybody know if this is possible for me still? Is it too late to be offered a spot? I did receive a AROTC scholarship to UNH as a backup if all paths fail to West Point.

West Point is definitely my dream and what I want to do.

Thanks !

Never received TWE but in same boat as you. I qualify highly in leadership/cfa/physically. Just low SAT. Only got 3q nwl a few weeks ago. Last monday, rc sent an email asking if I was interested in AOG. I guess they are still filling out those spots.

Yea I got a denied letter on my portal but everything except my sat was maxed.

I am thinking RC didnt call because he already knew from me telling him and my FFR telling them that I am very interested and committed to the program. I hope they still have spots open. It’s very hard waiting and not knowing when I might hear back if I got a AOG prep program offer. Any Ideas ?

I'm going to throw this out there - if no Civil Prep scholarship is offered, and your heart is not in AROTC at UNH, then you could decide to self-prep at any one of the Junior Military Colleges. Or.... take the scholarship to UNH, and re-apply during your freshman year. Re-applicants have a good chance with solid mostly A's academics. And play to study for and retake the SAT again. You have options - do not be discouraged!

Just curious what was the SAT for your application if you don't mind disclosing

I had a 1200 somewhere near there if I recall.

I found out yesterday night that I was not offered the prep school option and did not receive an appointment to WP.

ALTHOUGH when I checked this morning I found my Army ROTC 3 year scholarship had been upgraded to a 4 year to UNH. I now have a full scholarship 4 years to UNH.

I believe that it might have been one of the 4 year scholarships WP holds for cadets that are very close to appointment but ultimately do not have space to admit. West Point most likely told or gave Cadet Command this upgraded scholarship to give to me.

I can always reapply next year as well if I still want WP after experiencing AROTC.

Except take a year, knock out those plebe like classes, join an ROTC unit and reapply next year.

A significant part of each class are reapplicants!
I will add for what it’s worth….register for those plebe like classes early so you won’t get stuck with what’s left over professor wise. Be at the forefront of this because an A in plebe like classes second semester will do you not one bit of good next cycle.

Do you mean classes like physics, calculus, English?

Do you plan on re-applying next year?
