Our DS was initially DQ'ed for astigmatism, but qualified on Dec 5th. He was accepted to USMA and USNA and accepted appointment to USNA. Yesterday, he received a letter from DoDMerb that he is now pending again with the following info:

"At the request of US Naval Academy, a subsequent review of your medical examination was conducted. It has been determined that Additional Medical Information (AMI) is required before we can make a final determination."

Anyone have experience with this? It's odd that he was qualified and then it reverted back, could this be a mistake??

I would call USNA and check on this. If he received an appointment he was at least given a waiver and maybe the system is just slow updating.

We've been in contact with his admissions counselor. He applied last fall for the ROTC scholarship and ROTC started the DodMerb process. USNA had given him a waiver without a remedial optometrist visit and realized that when the medical DQ popped up again. I believe that he will have to go through the process, but since he was waivered once I believe he will get it again, especially since he has accepted appointment. Appointment Friday...

If he has an appointment in hand then he should be fine for USNA. They won’t offer an appointment unless medically qualified (or waivered).

Admissions rep. If he got an appointment, he should be fine.

He could also call DoDMERB to see what is up and if it’s just an error or slow processing.
