I was notified back in early January that I have received a principal nomination and have recently been sent a correspondence stating that I have been placed on the National Waiting List. I was under the impression that principal nominees would skip this step and be offered admission as soon as their file was qualified. Is this simply a place to put me until an offer of admission is sent or is there possibly a mistake somewhere?

That’s where you hang until they get around to you. You are in a great position with a Pnom; just hold fast.

The most succinct, easy to understand explanation of the letter that is titled "Candidate File Qualified" but has a pesky, confusing second sentence that says "You have been found fully qualified and placed on the national waiting list."

Yeah you’re fine, got placed on NWL then appointed 2 days later, and if they told you you have a principal nom I think you’re set.

The black box of admissions works at its own pace. It is likely that the NWL letter was automatically generated by one process, while the appointment offer is working its way through another process.
