How long did it take for dodmerb to receive the exams from dodmets? Or is that the under DODMERB review equivalent? Congrats on qualified!

Yes, the status of under DODMERB review came after it was received and scanned in to my portal.

Very nice!
DS was DQ and we sent AMI on 2/03/23 that was requested by the USCGA and USNA his Doctor sent all the paperwork including a letter stating there are no issues for DS to serve in a SA. Hopefully we get the same quick response.

It is very good you got all the records and got them in. Just FYI, letters from doctors are not considered by DoDMERB or Waiver Authorities because DoDMERB and the individual Waiver Authorities ARE the ones who make that decision. Doctors outside the military health system (usually even most times those in the military health system unless academy grads) have no idea of the training or stress placed on our sons and daughters while at any of the academies, so therefore DoDMERB and Waiver Authorities do not consider them qualified to write such a statement. A good letter from a doctor is one that basically says: "Patient X is released to full and normal activities without restriction".

This is what DS received from DODMERB

**** REQUIRED "MEDICAL" AMI **** R191.00 --- REQUIRES A PHYSICIAN'S APPOINTMENT: Please obtain a consultation with a hematology/oncology specialist REGARDING History of chronic, or recurrent thrombocytopenia. Need to evaluate normal platelet function and morphology. Also need a statement of clearance from hematologist for military training.

DS Dr. Letter gives him clearance for training. I hope this is what they are requiring.

"Patient X is released to full and normal activities without restriction" is the usual verbage I have seen. Full and normal activity without restrictions is the normal wording doctors use. If you have a military treatment facility, with a military doctor they are probably good to write a "Military Training" type letter, but almost all outside docs do not have the background to clear someone for military service, the different services rely on DoDMERB and their Waiver Authorities to make those determinations.

But since you son received a direct request for a written statement of clearance "for military training", then you are good sending in what they want. ALWAYS send them what they ask for, even if it seems not to make much sense..:)

Good Luck to your Son!!
