Qualifying for an interview

klvivian: Will he apply again next year if no nomination is forthcoming? My son had already decided last year that he would apply again and that seemed to alleviate some of his stress while waiting. Not mine, though!

Our Senators (we are in TX also) supposedly check with reps. You might let the Senators know that he did not get one from rep and still really wants a nomination. How best to do that? Hmmmm, maybe letter from your son.....

I would definintely do that....I do know that the rep just south of us did not coordinate with Senators, they had no way of knowing who he had nominated.

From the state of Texas District 26 - my son did not get a nomination after his interview.

klvivian, I'm so sorry. It is so hard to see how your child has worked for this, only to not have enough "spots" that a MOC can give out. I know they have to turn away many qualified kids. Listen to jenny's advice above, she has a great idea. Chin up.

Does anyone know the stuff that GA Senators and Rep. Linder do?

Sen Isakson & Chambliss only interview their top tier candidates (not sure about criteria for that though) for each academy over a two day period. That took place the weekend of 13 -14 Nov. Not sure if there will be any more interviews though. My son interviewed with both senators' AFA boards. Turns out a family friend was on Isakson's board (we did not know till we showed up at the interview site) and a family friend and our AFA LO were on Chambliss' board. Both boards asked questions about son's resume and application - no current events. My son had friends who interviewed for USMA and USNA with both senators and they reported the same thing.

Our congressman is Westmoreland and my son interviews twice for him on 5 Dec...one will be for USNA which is his 2nd choice and the other for AFA.
