Hi. We're new. My daughter actually received two letters from USNA this week. The first told her that she was an official candidate, assigned her a candidate number, and gave her next steps. The second letter, dated and received two days after the first, said that unfortunately she was not a strong enough candidate. It did not have her candidate number on it, but the rest of her personal information was the same. Has this happened to anyone else? Should she just proceed with the application process with her candidate number in hand, or should she call them to confirm that she is actually a copetitive candidate?

I have a distant cousin that just the opposite happened. First, not strong enough then told he was an official candidate.
