I am currently undergoing invisalign treatment just to correct my teeth. I am just about done with only a month and a half to go. That being said, there is a question asking if I am currently doing or plan to do invisalign treatment. I know the right answer would be to say yes, but I am afraid that would interfere with my entry into the USAFA. The only reason im a bit concerned is because I will have my treatment done months before any appointment would be given out to me. WIll I be able to clarify when my treatment will be finished later on?

Mr. Mullen will probably have you contact him, but I can tell you that lying on an official form is a very fast way to get yourself in a TON of trouble. Do not do it!

The answer is YES. You answer all questions honestly or the consequences, say again, the consequences, of going to a Service Academy with an honor code will be profound.

Send me an email: Lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4; paste your posting above to the email; PREVIEW ONLY; you and your dentist/orthodontist "WILL" be asked to complete: https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil/Docs/Orthodontic.pdf

Here is the standards that applies:

e. Current orthodontic appliances (mounted or removable, e.g., Invisalign®) for continued active treatment unless: (1) The appliance is permanent or removable retainer(s); or (2) An orthodontist (civilian or military) provides documentation that: (a) Active orthodontic treatment will be completed before being sworn in to active duty; or (b) All orthodontic treatment will be completed before beginning active duty. {{LARRY NOTE: For the purposes of a Service Academy, beginning an Academy on R or I Day constitutes this period of time.}} :wiggle:

I would just like to be clear that I had no intention on lying, if anything I would have waited to fill out the form until my treatment was done because if it was a serious issue I was told waiting until my treatment was done and saying "no" would not be considering lying because at the time of my completion of the survey I would be past using Invisalign. That being said, I did say yes before I posted this, because I wanted to make sure something like braces wouldnt be anything too severe.Thank you for your response though! I will have the email as soon as possible.
