Hello, I have read that a history of rhabdomyolysis is a DQ for a SA. Is this only exertional rhabdo such as associated with CrossFit and other extreme training? My DS was diagnosed with rhabdo once in 5th grade after flu B. No complications or reoccurrence and is now a Varsity athlete. How far back does he have to report if he moves to the exam stage?

Thank you. Does anyone know if Viral Rhabdomyolysis will mean he is automatically DQ? I want to prepare him now if he has no chance at his dream.

It might, it might not. But at the end of the day, if the past condition truly doesn't effect him/supected to not effect his career, and the SA wants him, they will request a waiver and the medical waiver process will clear him. Don't self eliminate, I almost made that mistake myself and now I have an appointment.

Yes, don't self-eliminate! My DD was DQ for two surgeries she had well before her 13th birthday. We didn't expect the DQs since they happened when she was much younger but we prepared for it and requested all hospital records from both hospitals early, which I'm glad we did because the oldest records took over a month to get! Waivers were requested so we're waiting for some additional testing and a letter from her doctor but staying optimistic that DD's LOA will turn into an acceptance! Definitely not giving up hope!
