I was wondering when will each particular congressional office will open their application windows in Louisiana. I was looking around and only some had theirs up to date for this year while others have not updated for this year's cycle yet. Anyone know when for the offices that have not updated their dates yet?

In general, their timelines are fairly consistent from year to year, so from an expectations standpoint, the 2020 date is close enough for July planning. Clearly you will want a firm date, but it is not critical at this phase of the process.

My suggestion is to make a phone call and ask for their service academy liaison or military affairs point of contact. If the staff is NEW, this may be a detail they simply are unaware needs updating on the web. Remember to be polite and professional.

Would I still need to fill out the initial application forms even if all the dates are outdated, or should I just call them up and request for the forms?

Review the forms to understand what you are likely to be asked to respond to in your application. Set the mental expectation so you can prioritize accordingly.

Call to inquire about when the 2021 forms will be ready/posted.

The call will take a minute and could save you hours if they change the format or questions.

In my DS experience the Senators and MoC staff members are very approachable and open for questions. Just make sure you fully understand the deadlines.

The latest application cycle is just starting so that would likely explain why they haven't yet updated. Typically, the deadline for when you apply for NOM is what matters since if you miss that date, you won't be eligible. Usually that is toward the end of the year. It isn't a race to apply early, I would just wait a month or so and then check their website again.

This isnt exactly correct. Even if you missed a MOC deadline, it’s recommended to still complete your application. There are opportunities that still exist, IE a nom isn’t required for prep programs. Also, SA’s do have noms then can assign, that are theirs to give.

Additionally, the MOC’s deadlines to apply for noms are *generally* EARLIER than the end of the year. So make sure and check EACH of your states MOC’s for their own deadlines. I have read that some are even as early as September before.

There are many sources of a NOM for which applicants might be eligible......MOC is only one of them. If you miss the deadline for that MOC, you aren't eligible for that particular NOM even if you are eligible for others. My impression was the OP was asking about a specific MOC NOM.

Applying to an SA is partly about following directions and meeting deadlines. I would advise all applicants to follow the directions provided for the current cycle and plan to meet all deadlines.
