hello all. so i have been accepted to class of 2015, very excited and all that got my BFE signed the intent letter its sent all of that. but i have only one concern: my eyes. my color vision is fine! truly it is! but when i take the test with the numbers hidden in the colors i only get about half of them right. but when i take the farnsworth lantern test (its called something like that) with the three colored lights i pass perfectly. will my inability to pass the one test get me sent home on I day? i really do have fine color vision, and my greatest fear is having to walk away from the academy on I day knowing i worked so hard to get accepted.

eyes

Part of you DOBMER exam will be an eye exam- don't remember the persons name on here but if you search DOBMER you will find him and he will give you the best and most accurate advice. Good Luck and welcome to the family! Remember stay safe and clean.....

thanks! i will try searching for that user, hoping to hear it wont be a big deal but im not sure. absolutely i will stay safe and clean the best that i can, i wouldnt give this chance up for the world

Haven't you already taken dodmerb?, if you're a principal candidate.

i have taken the dodmerb and qualified 7ecause i was able to pass everything fine, my only concern was the testing that takes place on the day we report to the academy

Send your question to the Admissions staff at the Academy.

For the Navy as long as you pass the Farnswerth test you are able to get a commission, which is what I believe KP uses as their standard, but don't quote me on that.

There is a small subset of people who cannot pass the Ishihara plates who are not color blind and this is the reason for the Farnswerth Lantern test.

I am pretty sure that USMMA goes by DODMERB - so just stay safe and enjoy the ride. The adventure has just begun. Keep posting any and all questions.

ah thank you all! its resolved and i should be just fine! happy to hear that the only thing that could have stood in my way is not an issue! see everyone in the summer!
