Big recommendation : Unless you are driving to A day or PW (and have the room), purchase any larger items online and have them shipped to a store location in Colorado Springs for pickup. Can also echo others - ask your cadet what they want, our DS didn't use his printer but a few times. Ended up being more of a dust catcher than anything else. Can anyone tell me what things to bring your cadet on A day or PW? Can they have a printer/monitor (I have read) if so what kind and what does the monitor hook up to? What kind of school supplies? Can they have a pencil sharpener? Do they need any clothes, socks, underwear? I have read a sleeping bag. iPad with data I read (should their phone have data)? Thanks for any insight.
I got him a 32” smart TV. Cheaper than a monitor. Can you tell me what brand of monitor you got him? Thank you
Speaking as a male and c/o '24, you 100% don't need white underwear. I remember having a million questions about that but underwear color doesn't matter at all. I didn't bring a single white pair to basic and it wasn't a problem. Nobody checks for the color of your underwear and nobody cares. Just bring comfortable underwear to basic.Underwear that isn’t white was something small but very useful. You are only allowed to bring white underwear to basic, so the first thing I asked for after was a black / multi colored set. Let’s just say my white underwear looked “off white” after their fair share of basic and more impressively, the A-Course.
They were told specifically what size monitors they can have
Congratulations!! Was your son a Blue Chip athlete?Thank you! He is a recruited athlete.
The answer to this is probably in Instructions to Candidates, I know that college students are required to though.Do we have to send in our mid-year grades? I know West Point shows a section stating that it required grades through specific dates. However, in my USAFA application, it just shows all green check marks without any word on mid-year grades.
My DS sent them just in case. He just finished first semester of online AP too so he may send once again.Do we have to send in our mid-year grades? When I asked an admissions person at USAFA via call around a month ago, she said that 7th semester transcripts don’t factor into the whole candidate score…I attempted to send to USAFA, but team blue said they haven’t asked for it and i shouldn’t send it
That's weird because Team Silver told my son to have his counselor mail his into them.I attempted to send to USAFA, but team blue said they haven’t asked for it and i shouldn’t send it

Every candidate is different. The Admissions committee may want to see a bit more from your DS.That's weird because Team Silver told my son to have his counselor mail his into them.
It does not appear that anyone from the Commonwealth of VA has posted any news about an appointment to USAFA on this forum. That does not mean that there have not been any appointments to candidates in VA - they just may not be on the SAF.Has anyone heard of any Virginia candidates becoming appointees?
Thx,
Hatchet
Maybe, or it might have been because his school has had a ton of counselor turnover and his counselor that had previously uploaded everything left as well. But, if it was because they wanted to see more he definetly delivered, this last semester he had four college classes or 13 credits (2dual credit and two at the college), chemistry, a drafting class, as well as AP calculus AB and AP calculus BC, getting straight A's in all and improving his GPA more and securing valedictorian. So hopefully this will help.Every candidate is different. The Admissions committee may want to see a bit more from your DS.
Admissions never asked me to submit my 7th semester transcript, but I still asked my guidance counselor. She told me that she usually doesn't send in 7th semester transcripts unless the school specifically asks for it or if there is a significant jump in GPA or rank. My GPA improved, but not by much, so I didn't send mine in. I agree with what @Tropic Justice said: every candidate is different. Admissions might ask for the new grades, and they may not. Even if admissions doesn't ask, talk to your counselor and see if your stats have improved at all. In my opinion, if your stats have significantly improved, why not send it in; what is the worst that can happen?Do we have to send in our mid-year grades?
