We are not able to attend R day, our DD is concerned with flights and making it on time, so she is thinking of flying out on the 29th. Does anyone find this necessary or just fly out the 30th?
We’re doing a 14 hr. drive out on the 29th (too many kids to fly), so that DD has the 30th to decompress (or more realistically, for the family to decompress). That said, I flew out on my own the day before and was fine. I know A-day is better for the family to come out; but they’ll be back in school by then so the wife and I will fly for that visit.
There is usually something set up for new cadets without parents. They fly in the night before, stay with a group of similar cadets at a hotel in New Jersey and have a bus that brings them in the morning. If you have not received this information, Deb Dalton would be the contact.
