Hi,

Prospective cadet here. I was wondering if anyone has any information about the USMA Rabble Rousers dance team. There is not much info online. Would it count as an intercollegiate sport, or an extracurricular?

Thanks, and happy holidays.

If I recall correctly, when I was at SLE I am pretty sure it's an intercollegiate sport. I'm just a new appointee by the way so I have the same thing about limited information. Though I do guess messaging their Instagram wouldn't be a bad idea to ask questions or emailing the Head Coach.

They are an NCAA team and compete each year...and typically place.

Thanks!
I know that this may not be answerable... but does anyone know the skills required for the dance team and when tryouts typically are for plebes? During Beast I assume?

I know that some walk on tryouts for NCAA/D1 sports teams are during BEAST Mass Athletic days…I would try to reach out to someone on Rabble Rousers to find out for sure, maybe on Instagram

Rabble Rousers are cheerleaders and not a dance team, if that makes a difference to you.

From what I could tell from SLE, there are two components to the team: cheer and pom (which is more dance-focused than strictly cheer). They cheer together on the sidelines at games and are regarded as one team, but they compete in different events at nationals.

Hi! I'm a Firstie currently on the Rabs pom team. It counts as a corps squad sport, so it's intercollegiate and we compete at NCA and NDA nationals every year in the spring. If you'd like more specific info on tryouts and skills we look for, feel free to message me privately :)
