I suggested this route. GMC now has a club wrestling program and I heard that's where they'll be sending CGAS preppers moving forward (they were previously going to the USNA Prep School), but a USCGA grad told him to just "self prep" where he wants to go, i.e. he goes to a state school and does ROTC (not binding freshman year) and reapplies to the USCGA as soon as he's able and submits college grades as soon as he has them. He liked that idea better than moving clear across the country for GMC and it does leave both paths open. If he were to get denied again, he'd still have a year under his belt and would transition on to the ROTC scholarship years 2-4. That said, I imagine it would be easier to focus on the USCGA path at one of the prep schools.
