Hello, are there any experience when reapplicant can get LOA or be offered NAPS?
Taking into account, that reapplicants mainly considered starting January, after Admissions receives their Fall semester grades/transcript?
Thanks.

This is what I have seen not a definite answer.

Of those I know , players and family, that have been offered NAPS that official offer has come later in the year after the regular admissions process has run or close to run it’s course.

Although many have been told it’s likely they will be going to NAPS long before that.
Most I know that went to NAPS were recruited for sports.

Id not think it in the interest of the Navy to start filling up NAPS slots earlier before they see what the slate of potential MCs might be.

Someone who knows for sure may give you a better answer

As a reapplicant generally Navy wants to see your first semester grades from college. Usually by the time you are reviewed they have everything such a Nom and other items to offer an Appt or not. LOAs are generally not needed in this case. NAPS are generally not offered to someone after a year of college, but that is not to say a few each year don’t make it to NAPS.

I totally over looked the fact that they would already have some college as far as NAPS.

Despite the clearly titled thread.

I wonder if even a few make it to NAPS after having college? Maybe a prior?

I went to NAPS after a year at college so definitely possible. Already mentioned, LOA's aren't happening since they'll want to see those fall semester grades. After that if you they decide NAPS is for you, you can expect that letter to come early to late spring.

Thanks y'all for the feedback!

Was wondering this myself more specifically regarding the NAPS side of things. Good luck in your reapplication may the persistence make the noise 💪🏼

My son had his BGO interview for the c/o '26 app last night. The BGO told him that she had a college re-applicant that was given a NAPS slot (without him asking anything about it). So, it does sound possible.

I can understand why they may not give out LOAs to college re-applicants. They probably want to see how someone actually handles college during that first semester.

Anything is possible... the more appropriate question is whether it is likely.

First, as has been said many times here -- no one knows what triggers an LOA, and your objective should be to get an Appointment, not an LOA.

I can see a scenario where a very good candidate was edged out by a slightly better candidate during the original Admissions cycle, and Admissions wanted to make sure that Candidate had a seat the next year,, then an LOA would be appropriate. That said, I would expect that very good candidate would have been waitlisted, or perhaps didn't get the TWE until very late in the cycle

With respect to NAPS -- while someone posted it has happened, I really don't think it iscommon or likely. As a practical matter, the reapplicant that has gone to college and taken a rigorous STEM based courseload is getting the same preparation as someone going to NAPS. That candidate is going to be evaluated after first semester grades are available, and he/she is either going to make the grade, or not. I really don't think another year of preparation at NAPS would make much difference.

Bottom line though -- while these type of what if's are interesting brain teases, they really don't affect the application process. Regardless of whether a first time or repeat applicant, you want to submit your best application for APPOINTMENT ,, not NAPS or LOA.

Oh, as a personal experience thing, I did not actually run into that many recruited athletes during my NAPS year ('92). While there were a few, it seemed many of the people I talked with were priors (like me), or selected for academic improvement reasons.

A lot has probably changed in 30 years though. :p

It’s also possible someone could go to NAPS due to lack of leadership opportunities or skills. Therefore, just because a college candidate got NAPS doesn’t necessarily mean it was solely for academic issues. I agree with OldNavyBGO, a college candidate going to NAPS is not commonplace.
