Is the process of applying a second year as involved as the first year? The problem with the packet was that the ACT math score needed to be raised two points. Does the rest of the packet and nominations from this year still stand?

Thank you.

do-over

Unless things have changed lately, it's a fresh do-over. While you can update your app noting your persistence in trying again (perhaps in an essay, either ones to USMA or to your possible nomination sources, etc.), and some (very few) of your elements will move forward, you'll need to basically consider starting from scratch. New noms, new CFA test, etc. One thing that *might* carry forward is your DoDMERB result, it is good for 2 years from the originating date but must be valid through R Day of your entering year, so that may or may not cover you (you can apply for an extension from DoDMERB but you must apply for it if needed, it is not automatic). Lots of information here about prospective candidates who have applied more than once, scour it and you'll find some great pointers.

Best wishes on your second attempt -- many before you have done that and it has worked out well for them.

So interviews and nominations must be applied for again? (Just to clarify.)

yes -- each year is a new round of competition, so with new applicants you must reapply along with them. New pool, you never know who will stand out. However, as I said if you read through the numerous related posts you'll probably see that most nomination sources consider it a positive thing for re-applicants to try again providing you are improving your stats along the way (higher test scores, higher CFA, assuming you are entering college then taking classes similar to USMA first-year classes and getting good grades in those, perhaps enrolling in a senior ROTC program and doing well, even getting a nomination from your ROTC Professor of Military Science or PMS ... lots to read about).

best wishes,

Reapplying

Make sure you talk to your RC; he or she will be more familiar with your specific file and will be able to offer you more personalized advice, as well as up-to-date information about the reapplication process. I was told by mine that my high school record (ex. leadership and sports activities) could carry forward and be considered in a reapplication, though the majority of the application does have to be completed again (essays, nominations, teacher recs, etc). DoDMERB approval may also carry forward, as noted above, depending on when you had your last exam.
