I applied for USMA class of 2020 last year out of high school. I received an LOA in september and needed to qualify medically and receive a nomination before getting my appointment. I was a 4 year high school basketball player and received a full ride scholarship at another University. I held out as long as I could before accepting that hoping to hear from USMA. The coaches that were recruiting me pushed me to sign and commit early. This was the only full ride offer I had gotten and chances of getting another weren't very high. Of course, the week after I commit to this basketball scholarship I receive my LOA in the mail. I had not received a nomination or fully completed an application to any congressman or senator. I reapplied this winter for the class of 2021 with full intentions of attending if accepted. Has anyone else ever been in this situation? Does receiving an LOA early last year still make me a competitive candidate? I was on the deans list my first semester of college while taking chemistry, history, precalculus with trig, a communication class, and sports nutrition. I am also obviously a varsity NCAA athlete at the school I'm at now. Nominations haven't been received from my AL Senator.
