I received a 3 year NROTC sideload scholarship this year but was DQed from dodmerb. It has been a while and am waiting on a waiver notification but I was wondering if it is too late to sign the contract for the sideload since it has been a while since being awarded the scholarship. I am confident in being waived but I know that for the National scholarship you have to sign the contract within a certain amount of time and I was wondering if the sideload process is the same and I would have to reapply for a 2year scholarship when I am medically cleared.

Congratulations on your sideload scholarship. Not sure on the mechanics of the timing of signing, but I would think your cadre could advise you on that. I suggest you take a look at the DoDMERB page in this forum and reach out to Mr. Mullen, who could advise you on the medical/waiver process.

Best of luck to you!

Not sure that there is a time limit that the contract has to be signed. The issue is that it can be started until all the parameters are met, DODMERB passing is one of them.

Send me an email: lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; provide the text of your posting above to YOUR email. The subject line of the email should be “jchow-SAF = received sideload but not medically cleared.“ Do NOT embed links in your email as I will not be able to view those.:wiggle:

Thank you Mr. Mullen for the help! I got in contact with CDR Zalar and I was medically cleared. I just signed the contract and will take the oath soon.
